Shelton Snow â€“ Vice President
Shelton is a native of Hampton Virginia. He enlisted in the United Stated States Navy in June of 1992. While serving as a Machinist Mate aboard the USS Peleliu (LHA-5) in San Diego California, he converted to Air Traffic Control Specialists in March of 1998. In the fall of 2004, he terminated active duty to pursue a career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In 2006 he was hired by the FAA, and was sent Nashville International ATCT / TRACON (BNA). After a brief 10-month stint, he transferred from BNA to Norfolk International ATCT / TRACON (ORF). Shelton served at ORF as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC) for 7 years before transferring to Potomac Consolidated TRACON (PCT) in the spring of 2014.
On June 15, 2015 he will begin his management career with the FAA. He was recently promoted to Air Traffic Operations Supervisor in the busiest and largest enroute air traffic control facilities in the world, New York Air Route Traffic Control Center (ZNY) in Long Island, New York.
Along with serving aboard the USS Peleliu from December 1992 â€“ June 1998, while on active duty, Shelton also served at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Lemoore California, from June 1998 â€“ June 2001. His last tour of duty was Naval Air Technical Training Center Pensacola, Pensacola Florida, as an Air Traffic Control Instructor (June 2001 â€“ September 2004).
Shelton received a Bachelorâ€™s of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (2001). He received a Masterâ€™s in Business Administration (MBA) in Applied Aviation Management from Daniel Webster College (2010).
In July 2010, Shelton was appointed Washington Suburban Chapter (WSC) Vice-President. In April 2011 he was appointed WSC President; then in October of 2013 he was appointed Northeast Regional Vice-President. He currently holds both titles.
Shelton has received several awards and accolades since becoming a proactive member in the NBCFAE. He received: Special Recognition from the Northeast Region in 2011; as Washington Suburban Chapter President, National Chapter of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2014; as Northeast Regional Vice-President, National Regional of the Year in 2013 and 2014; National Recruiter of the Year 2012, 2013, and 2014. He is also the recipient of the 2014 Ron E Mcnair Award.
